How to read a marking
A marking helps identify the component, its parameters and a possible replacement. This is especially useful for legacy machine tools, presses and imported equipment.
NSh gear pumps
The number indicates displacement in cm³/rev, the letter identifies the design, and the final digit is the pressure group. A final L indicates left-hand rotation.
Directional valves and pressure valves
For VE and VMM valves, the first number normally indicates nominal bore and the following part identifies the spool circuit. G51–G66 valve sizes are encoded within the marking.
AIR electric motors
In AIR 90L4, 90 is the shaft height, L is the frame length, and the final digit indicates the pole count and approximate motor speed.
Information needed for selection
If the nameplate is damaged, provide flow, pressure, connection, coil voltage and mounting type, and attach a photo of the component.
